We are very happy that KID. will have a place on your stage. On the page below, you will find all the material to make it something beautiful both technically and communicatively.

a performance for children about adults and vice versa

KID. is two in one.
Two performances at the same time.
Two stands with a wall between them.

On one side, the grown-ups sit and watch an 18+ show about children. On the other side, the children sit and watch an 8+ show about grown-ups.
Nobody knows what’s happening on the other side. You can hear everything, but it’s not always what you think it is. And what you see isn’t always what you hear.

During KID., the children take their seats in the theatre seating and are treated to a high-quality, philosophical slapstick show about what a grown-up actually is.
On the other side of the wall, backstage, the grown-ups must do all they can to assist to make the show for the kids go smoothly, while enjoying some grown-up entertainment, like red wine and a bit of functional nudity.

In KID., BOG. asks what a grown-up actually is. If you’re big, are you a grown-up? If you can afford a house? If you’re sad more often than you’re happy? BOG. peels away at the grown-up, layer by layer, before the children’s eyes and before the grown-ups’ ears. KID. is confrontational and as honest as can be for grown-ups, intimate and juicy for children, and hilarious for young and old. After the show, the conversation between generations continues in the foyer, because your child saw the same show you saw… didn’t
they?

For this reboot, a simplified version of the set has been designed, so that the show can go on tour more easily, in a more sustainable and cost-effective way. The old square set with our own stands is a thing of the past. Now, the children take their seats in the theatre’s stands. On scene, there is a reinforced wooden wall, over which the actors can climb. Behind it, the grown-ups take their places on chairs on risers. This way, it is a great deal easier to take KID. on tour and to build the set, thus making it available to more theatres.
In addition, this reboot of KID. can be booked as a show for schools.

About BOG.

One of the leading theatre companies of the last decade. - Marijn Lems, Theaterkrant

BOG. unites four theatre makers: Judith de Joode, Benjamin Moen, Sanne Vanderbruggen and Lisa Verbelen.
Since BOG.’s first show, an attempt to restructure life (2013), they’ve been making works about everything people try to understand but is often too big to grasp. They look into topics everyone encounters in daily life: life as a whole, opinions, faith, time and motion, maturity, existential loneliness, grief, language and identity.
BOG. makes uncompromising, wayward and open theatre for the modern person with questions, based on the conviction that we must seek out what connects us, as humans, without losing sight of the value of difference.

press comments

  • Theaterkrant

KID. is adventurous, challenging and uncommonly funny. It is a totally brilliant show. *****
  • Etcetera

BOG.’s observation of humanity is just as sharp as ever, its urge to understand is just as big
as ever, and its poetry hits home as much as ever. Above all, that makes KID. one big plea
to keep growing, in both directions at the same time.
  • Focus Knack
KID. does what the BOG. collective has been excelling at for several years now: using solid
scripts, a cleverly conceived format and unpolished play to make you think about what we
sometimes take for granted. In this case: behaving like a grown-up animal.
