Jonge performers (15-21 jaar) gezocht voor theatervoorstelling the beach

Voor de voorstelling the beach zoekt kunstenares Sarah Vanhee jonge performers (x/v/m) die graag op een podium (willen) staan en geïnteresseerd zijn in seksualiteit, lichamelijkheid, verlangen. 

the beach wordt een performance met en door jongeren. Op het podium zie je een strand, een plek vol lichamen, (ont)spanning en erotiek. In de voorstelling zien we mensen alleen of met vrienden, familie of onbekenden het strand bezoeken. Tegelijk horen we hun innerlijke gedachten of gevoelens.

Voor deze creatie zoeken we performers of spelers die graag bewegen, zonder dat je al heel wat technische kennis moet hebben. We vertrekken vanuit wie we zelf zijn, niet vanuit personages die al vastliggen. We gaan aan de slag met fysiek spel, stemgebruik en een tekst die door andere jongeren werd gemaakt. 

WIE ZOEKEN WE?

Ben jij tussen de 15 en 21 jaar? Voel je je goed in je lichaam of heb je net veel twijfels? Kijk je graag, word je graag bekeken, kijk je liever weg? Ben je niet bang om dingen uit te proberen? Met de nodige humor ook? Of ben je gewoon nieuwsgierig?

Alle soorten mensen, talen en lichamen zijn welkom, ook zonder podiumervaring. 

AUDITIEWORKSHOPS

De auditieworkshops gaan door op 8 en 9 maart 2025 in hetpaleis te Antwerpen.

Op zaterdag 8 maart vindt de eerste kennismakingsworkshop plaats.
Nadien werken we met een selecte groep verder op zondag 9 maart in de namiddag.
Om je aan te melden stuur je vóór 1 maart een korte introductie over jezelf (in tekst of video) en een foto van jezelf naar jenne.vandaele@hetpaleis.be.

REPETITIES

De repetities gaan door in weekends en schoolvakanties: 

• zondag 16 maart
• zaterdag 17 en zondag 18 mei
• zaterdag 28 en zondag 29 juni
• 11 t.e.m. 29 augustus (enkel op weekdagen)
• zaterdag 6, 13, 20 en 27 september
• zaterdag 4, 11, 18 en 25 oktober
• 27 t.e.m. 31 oktober (herfstvakantie)
• 3, 4 en 5 november

SPEELPERIODE

De première van the beach is op 6 november 2025. Dan volgt een reeks (school)voorstellingen in hetpaleis op volgende dagen: 7, 8, 12 en 13 november.

Nadien volgt een internationale tournee, verspreid over het schooljaar. Voor je deelname ontvang je een vrijwilligersvergoeding per speeldag.

THE BEACH

For the performance the beach, artist Sarah Vanhee is looking for young performers (x/v/m)
who like to be on stage and are interested in the themes of sexuality, physicality and desire.

the beach will be a performance with and by young people. On stage you will see a beach, a
place full of bodies, relaxation or tension and eroticism. In the performance, we see people
visiting the beach alone or with friends, family or strangers. At the same time, we hear their
inner thoughts or feelings.

For this creation, we are looking for performers or players who like to move, without already
having to have a lot of technical knowledge. We will start from who we are ourselves, not from
characters who are already established. We will work with physical performance, use of voice
and a text created by other young people.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Are you between the ages of 15 and 21? Do you feel good in your body or do you have a lot of
doubts? Do you like watching, being watched, do you prefer to look away? Are you not afraid to
try things out? With the necessary humour too? Or are you just curious?

Then definitely come to the beach audition.

All types of people, languages and bodies are welcome, even without stage experience.

AUDITION WORKSHOPS

The audition workshops will take place on 8 and 9 March 2025 at hetpaleis in Antwerp.

• The first introductory workshop will take place on Saturday 8 March.
• Afterwards, we will continue working with a select group on Sunday 9 March in the
  afternoon.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals will continue on weekends and school holidays:

• Sunday 16 March
• Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May
• Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June
• 11 to 29 August (weekdays only)
• Saturday 6, 13, 20 and 27 September
• Saturday 4, 11, 18 and 25 October
• 27 to 31 October (autumn holidays)
• 3, 4 and 5 November

PERFORMANCES

The premiere of the beach is on 6 November 2025. This will be followed by a series of (school)
performances in hetpaleis on the following days: 7, 8, 12 and 13 November.
This will be followed by an international tour, spread over the school year. For your participation,
you will receive a volunteer's allowance per performance day.

Sarah Vanhee is an artist who is curious about people and the world. She likes to use the stage
as a place to explore underexposed realities and try out new imaginations. She likes to work
from co-creation and allow different languages, lives, people, fantasies to exist on a stage.
